Echinacea (Purple Coneflower) (Echinacea angustifolia) P. Ht. 3'.

A very attractive garden perennial, native to North America. Large, reddish-purple 'daisy' flowers with conical centres. Medicinally used to improve resistance to infection.

Elecampane (Inula helenium) P. Ht 7'.

A very tall handsome plant with large leaves and clusters of ragged, yellow daisy flowers. The seed heads attract finches and linnets. A good antiseptic, once used to treat chest complaints and to make cough candy.

Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis) Bi. Ht. 4’.

As the name suggests, primrose yellow flowers open and release their fragrance during the evening. The tap roots were once cooked as a vegetable. Oil now extracted for medicinal purposes. Large flowered and fragrant varieties also available.
