Our traditional range of Terracotta is hand-thrown from strong, Staffordshire clay by our cousin in Northumberland (www.thepottingshed.co.uk). The selection includes decorative pots, pans and long toms with specialist lily pots, rhubarb forcers and holed, herb pots. We are often asked whether these pots are frost-proof. Although genuine, natural terracotta can never be guaranteed as totally frost proof , the strong, English clay and firing techniques used in this range greatly improves their winter hardiness and we have left our pots outside throughout the coldest of Norfolk winters without a problem. We would suggest placing them in a sheltered corner in Winter. Make sure that the pots are raised out of any puddles which could freeze around the base and brush fallen snow from the rims. You should then be able to enjoy your terracotta for many years
