Marsh Mallow – Althaea officinalis is a softly coloured herb with velverty grey-green leaves and delicate pink flowers. Grows wild in marshes and wet meadows. The roots have important soothing medicinal properties and can be made into the original marshmallow lozenge to treat coughs and sore throats
