What a year 2020 has been!
Our thoughts go out to everyone. There can’t be a single person in this country that hasn’t been affected in some way by this pandemic. We are so lucky to be in a sector that has been extremely busy.
This is proof that plants and gardens have provided much needed escape from the realities beyond our control. Mental health has been so paramount this year but hearing experiences from our own customers, reading in the press and watching stories on TV stalwarts such as Gardener’s World and Springwatch has provided proof of how positive gardens and nature in general can make us feel. We had a record number of Beginner Herb Collections leave us this year for new gardeners looking for something to do and we hope every one of the recipients are now hooked! Herbs provide a haven for wildlife, flavour for the table and of course, a scented, relaxing area of the house, flat, garden or allotment.
Time has come for us to reflect on our own year and to spend the colder months on catching up with all the nursery maintenance and improvements. And, most importantly, putting in place all our exciting plans for 2021! This will include a brand new range of plants totally exclusive to us.
Christmas will come very quickly this year and it is with no doubt that online sales across all sectors will be at record levels. Our courier reached normal Christmas levels of work in April so with this in mind, we have made the decision not to send out live plants after the 7th of December until the new year. Our courier has done a fantastic job of delivering our plants ‘next day’ throughout the year but we can’t see how they can absolutely guarantee this nearer Christmas and we would always want your plants to arrive in perfect condition and not be delayed in the rush. Therefore, if you wish to buy your nearest and dearest something herby this festive season look no further than a Gift Voucher. The recipient can then plan for the coming year and look forward to ordering plants in the Spring when the sun is shining warmly again and conditions are perfect for planting. We offer these in differing amounts, and we do not charge for postage! They also come with a catalogue and a gift message. Gift Vouchers and messages can also be emailed.
The nursery itself will still remain temporarily closed to visitors for the time being but, if you are in the area, gate collections can be arranged. Also remember that if you have any enquiries, the office will remain open throughout.
Thank you for your support and many kind words throughout this strange time and we wish you all the best for the rest of this year and next. Our online shop will continue to take plant orders until the 6th December and then we will very much look forward to hearing from you all again in the New Year.
