Nasturtium – Tropeaolum majus
Nasturtium – Tropeaolum majus is a popular annual available in several colours and forms. Ideal for containers as they are so attractive but they have culinary properties too.
So useful in the kitchen as the leaves, flowers and seeds are edible. The flowers because of their particularly bright colour look wonderful in a salad, the leaves have a peppery taste and high vitamin C content. The seeds also make a good substitute for capers.
Flourishes in poorer soil. Self-Seeding.
