Angelica – Angelica archangelica is a tall stately plant with large bright green leaves. Although biennial treat as perennial as it self seeds easily. Striking flowerheads in the 2nd year that are greenish white with a sweet scent. They are usually popular statement plants at the Chelsea Flower Show .
Angelica is a useful culinary plant and it can be used in many dishes. Add young stems to rhubarb to reduce acidity.
A good plant to grow for encouraging wildlife. The hollow stems make great homes for overwintering ladybirds.
Cut back faded foliage in the summer but leave flower stems to ripen the seed and to provide feed for the birds.
