Description:
Dill (Anethum graveolens)
Dill – Anethum graveolens
Dill – Anethum graveolens isĀ an annual with fine feathery aromatic leaves. Small yellow flowers in umbels over the summer.
Dill prefers a well drained soil in a sunny position. A sheltered position with protection from wind is advised. Avoid planting near Fennel to avoid cross pollination. Plants can be fragile so add support and stake if necessary.
A versatile herb in the kitchen as both the leaves and the seeds can be used in recipes. Try the leaves in salads, cheeses and fish dishes. The seeds are great in vinegars and pickles.
Dill also has medicinal properties.
