Fennel, Green (Foeniculum vulgare)
Fennel, Green – Foeniculum vulgare
Fennel, Green – Foeniculum vulgare is a beautiful plant with frothy green foliage and lemon yellow flowers in large umbels in summer. Hoverflies and other pollinators love the flowers too!
Prefers a well drained, fertile soil in a sunny position.
Green Fennel is a great culinary herb to grow. It has a stronger flavour in comparison to Bronze Fennel. The leaves are a tasty addition for many recipes, in particular fish dishes. Use seeds in pickles or as a tea.
The fronds are particularly attractive in flower arrangements, soak prior to use.
Medicinally known to aid digestion and prevent heartburn.
