Description:
Lemon Verbena (Aloysia citriodora)
Lemon Verbena – Aloysia citriodora
Lemon Verbena – Aloysia citriodora is an aromatic deciduous shrub with a charmingly wayward growth form. A real favourite here on the nursery!
The foliage has a particularly wonderful zesty lemon scent that is reminiscent of lemon sherbets. Produces small lavender white flowers. Lots of uses in the kitchen for when you want to add some extra lemony flavour. Try in teas, desserts, baking, summer drinks and cocktails. Useful for pot pourri too.
Will require winter protection in most places. Perhaps best to grow in a large pot that you can bring into a conservatory over the winter.
It will lose all it’s leaves in the winter but will flourish again late spring when it can be pruned to produce a bushy plant.
