Salvia Amante is a truly spectacular Salvia with long branches dripping with silky, red flowers which look stunning against the inky black stems and calyces.
This Salvia really is the red flowering form of Amistad – one of our favourites!
A very long flowering period. Plant in a sheltered position in free draining soil. Alternatively protect over the winter months.
During the flowering season (spring to late summer outside), trim back spent flowers to next leaf node. If in a pot, feed once every 3 – 4 weeks with a seaweed fertiliser.
Amante is wonderful at attracting insects and we have even seen hummingbird hawkmoths on the flowers.
