Salvia Amistad

Salvia Amistad is truly the King of the Salvias! It really is one of the most spectacular Salvias to enjoy in the garden.

It has long branches dripping with silky, royal purple flowers which look stunning against the inky black stems and calyces. A larger variety perfect for the back of the border or as a specimen plant in a large pot. Perfect for adding colour over late summer and Autumn.

This salvia is on the BBC’s Gardener’s World ’20 spectacular salvias to grow list’ –  https://www.gardenersworld.com/plants/20-spectacular-salvias-to-grow/

A very long flowering period right through to the first frosts in winter. Plant in a sheltered position in free draining soil or prepare to protect over the winter months.

During the flowering season (spring to late summer outside), trim back spent flowers to the next leaf node. If in a pot, feed once every 3 – 4 weeks with a seaweed fertiliser.

The plant is wonderful at attracting insects and we have even seen hummingbird hawkmoths on the flowers.
