Catnep, Lemon Scented – Nepeta cataria
Catnep, Lemon Scented – Nepeta cataria is a new form of catnep with foliage that has a zesty lemon scent. Apparently just as popular with our feline friends!
A hardy perennial with a spread of 60cm. Grow in a sunny spot in well drained soil. Pungent aromatic leaves with a scent of lemon. Pale pink flowers in summer that are also attractive to bees and other pollinators. Cut back after flowering.
Nepeta cataria has many uses medicinally, but nowadays used less so. Stuff dry leaves into toy mice for cats and kittens.
