Fennel, Florence – Foeniculum vulgare var.dulce is the Fennel variety which has the particularly bulbous stem. Grow as an annual and then harvest in August/September. It has a distinctive aniseed flavour.

A useful culinary plant to grow, it can be used in a variety of ways in the kitchen. Use raw in salads or alternatively cook and treat as a vegetable.

It thrives in warm, sunny and moist positions.
