Vervain – Verbena officinalis
Vervain – Verbena officinalis is the wild verbena. A hardy perennial with hairy lobed green leaves. It is a slender plant with small mauve flowers opening gradually up the stem.
It prefers a well drained soil and a sunny position. Self seeds.
A highly valued plant in ancient times as a herb against evil. In fact there are many associations with sorcery and places of worship.
Also used medicinally to treat nervous disorders.
