Purple Loosestrife – Lythrum salicaria is a handsome, medicinal wild flower of river banks and marsh. A herbaceous perennial with attractive tall purple flower spikes over summer. The flowers are also attractive to bees and other pollinators.

A good garden subject that likes moist soil and a sunny aspect.

Leaves are also soothing to sores and ulcers.
