Skullcap – Scutellaria galericulata

Skullcap – Scutellaria galericulata is a hardy perennial. A native wild flower of wet meadows. It has a creeping root stock and distinctive square stems.

The blue and white flowers have cap like calyces which give the plant its name.

Prefers a moisture retentive soil in sun or partial shade.

Still in use medicinally to treat disorders of the nervous system. It was also once a herb used in many Native American traditions.
