Teasel (Dipsacus fullonum)
Teasel – Dipsacus fullonum
Teasel – Dipsacus fullonum is a popular wildflower that make great architectural plants in the garden. Distinctive spiny seed heads that are mauve when in flower during the Summer. Flowers attractive to bees and other pollinators.
The seed heads attract flocks of Goldfinches in the Autumn. Popular with flower arrangers and also great sprayed gold for use at Christmas.
This variety and also Fullers Teasel are still in use in carding wool and cloth napping as they prove more efficient than any man made tool.
