Description:
Basil, African
Basil, African
Basil, African is a very beautiful plant with deep green leaves splashed with purple and long flower spikes of bright mauve-pink. Perhaps not the flavour of the classic tender varieties but this can be forgiven because African basil has the huge advantage of being a perennial. Keep warm and dry inside during cooler months (above 15 degrees). Although one should cut out the flowers on most basils, please leave some for the bees on this variety!

If you love to see a plant covered in honey bees and bumble bees as well as many other insects, please grow this. At the last count, 10 minutes ago, there were over 30 in total and I only grew 1 tub full. It has also flowered since the end of June, showing no sign of stopping, still vigorous with no sign of disease and has been an absolute delight.
