Coriander – Coriandrum sativum
Coriander – Coriandrum sativum the popular culinary herb. A tender annual with finely cut leaves that have a strong pungent scent. The whole plant is edible. Grows best in well drained soil in a sunny position or alternatively in a container.
Its fresh young leaves and stalks can be used in a wide range of recipes. Attractive pale mauve flowers appear during July and August. The seed can then be gathered and dried in a warm place. Use the seeds in curries and pickles.
Coriander also has medicinal properties, it is known to be useful for the digestive system.
