Evening Primrose – Oenothera erythrosepala

Evening Primrose – Oenothera erythrosepala is a tall hardy biennial. Long lance shaped leaves with primrose yellow flowers that release a strong fragrance during the evenings. Also called ‘Evening Star’ for the phosphorescent light that the petals emit. Moths love the flowers.

A popular medicinal herb. The oil is currently in use for treating a large variety of disorders. Its potential is very much still evolving.

A native plant of North America that had many medicinal and culinary uses for Native Americans. The tap roots were once eaten as a vegetable.
