Arguably, the most important reason for growing and enjoying flowering herbs is to provide nectar for many different, vitally important pollinators and provide balm for our wellbeing when we can take a moment to watch butterflies flitting and hear the soporific hum of happy bees amongst the flowers.

Whatever the scientific theories (and we have plenty of our own!), there is no doubt that the insect population has drastically collapsed in numbers over recent years. This, of course, will have an alarming effect on our precious ecosystems and natural food chains from pollinating our own food crops to providing food for our insect loving birds. In fact, the delicate natural balance of our world cannot exist without insects.  So we can all really do something by planting herbs for pollinators and help to infill their flight corridors from one nectar rich area to another.
